Jeff Foreman's first Mini Member Training of 2025 provided invaluable insights into the most successful post types from the ERP Software Blog in 2024 and strategies to improve traffic moving forward. By analyzing the top 100 posts, key trends emerged that can help shape your content planning for 2025.

The analysis categorized posts into six groups based on their performance:

  1. Explainer Posts

These straightforward posts, highlighting features and benefits of Microsoft Dynamics 365, were the top performers. Along with “how-to” posts, they contributed approximately 60% of the total traffic.

  2. How-To Guides

Deep dives into specific Dynamics 365 features or functions ranked just behind explainers. This demonstrates that readers seek actionable insights.

  3. Partner and ISV Search Posts

A new category for 2024, these posts offered guidance on selecting independent software vendors (ISVs) or value-added resellers (VARs). The emergence of this category could reflect changes in search engine algorithms or user behavior.

  4. General Industry Posts

General industry trends, like e-commerce best practices or transportation management systems, surprisingly outperformed expectations. Historically, such posts were difficult to rank but gained traction this year, opening opportunities for members to write more broadly.

  5. Dynamics 365 for Specific Industries

Targeted content for verticals, such as nonprofits or distribution companies, remained a staple. Though these posts accounted for only 7% of traffic, they consistently ranked on the first page of search results.

  6. Dynamics GP Posts

Despite Dynamics GP being phased out, posts on this topic still drew significant traffic (3%).

Observations and Trends

The performance comparison between 2023 and 2024 revealed several shifts:

  • AI and Copilot Posts Declined

While these topics initially performed well when featured on the homepage, they failed to sustain search rankings over time. The lack of keyword density may have contributed to this decline.

  • The Life Cycle of a Post Matters

Posts receive an initial traffic boost when featured on the homepage. However, sustaining long-term visibility requires optimizing titles and content for keywords. A recommended tactic is to use an intriguing title for homepage visibility and update it later with search-friendly keywords.

  • Generalized Topics Are Valuable

Broader industry trends and partner selection posts gained traction, challenging the previous belief that only niche Dynamics-related content drives traffic.

Best Practices for Blog Success

The webinar also highlighted best practices for creating content that ranks:

  • Use Engaging Visuals: Include at least two relevant images – like charts, screenshots, or graphs – with alt tags.

  • Optimize Titles: Incorporate product names and industries or business processes in the title.

  • Add Internal Links and CTAs: Ensure posts include links back to your website and a clear call-to-action.

  • Focus on Quality Content: Aim for at least 750 words of high-quality, original content without repetition or fluff. Avoid AI-written content to maintain Google’s trust.

Takeaways for 2025

Looking ahead, members are encouraged to explore partner-selection topics and industry trends while refining content for better search visibility. Explainer and how-to posts remain cornerstones of traffic generation. Writers should focus on thoughtful titles, optimized keywords, and high-quality visuals to maximize both immediate and long-term performance.
